The New Balance XC5K takes inspiration from its track spike brother, the LD5000. However, the XC5K features a more rugged design for added protection and durability on a variety of cross country course surfaces. Underfoot, a thin layer of foam provides just enough cushion to protect you from hard surfaces while remaining super lightweight. Embedded into the midsole, a forefoot plate adds further protection and a springier ride. To provide traction on a variety of surfaces, the XC5K's outsole features multidirectional spikey rubber teeth along with five spike receptacles. Up top, the XC5K's track-inspired heel collar helps to keep out debris while 3D screen printed overlays offer lightweight support and durability.
